Upcoming reception Sept. 15th
Back by popular demand at Gallery: Art & Creativity Center is Fremont artist Pamela Hynek. Bull riders, cowboys, swineherders, and tractor lovers will appreciate this year’s show entitled “Country Vision.” The artist will shake hands with the above-mentioned as well as the public from 1 to 3 p.m. on that date. Then she’ll be off to photograph another bull riding event that evening.
Her portrayals in oils and acrylics of livestock, rodeo events, and antique tractors has merited Hynek several awards in art competitions. Her work has been purchased by pork producing associations.
The exhibit will hang from September 15 through October 20 at 80800 Oak Grove Road, one mile west then one mile south of the village of Comstock. The gallery is open most afternoons and always opened by appointment. Call Sue Oiler Dowse at (308)215-0076 or (308)628-4370. There is no admission charge.
Showing at the gallery through Sept. 14 is the summer-themed show, “Faces.” Artists from across Nebraska as well as Missouri photographer Robert Rone provide a wide variety of portraiture in paint, graphite, clay, and film.
Upcoming exhibits are the Association of Nebraska Art Clubs Travel Show in conjunction with the Craig Strong Memorial Photography Exhibit slated for Oct. 22 through Nov. 9. An open house for this joint exhibit will be held late afternoon of Oct. 22.

There are other opportunities to see “Back to the Farm” as it will hang in the gallery until Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. The gallery is open by calling ahead or taking a chance I’ll be there. However, I just live next door, south, but you’ll need to holler real loud to get my attention! My phone is 308.215-0076.    You can see more of her work at www.hynekart.com.

Freckle Face 12"X24"oil

Wow, wow, wow!  I got Honorable Mention for “A Ram I Am II,” my watercolor of a goat at a Long Pine I saw during an  en pleine expedition last summer. Not only did it get what I consider a prestigious award, but it will be one of the paintings chosen to be critiqued by the judge at the ANAC banquet on Friday night.  PTL!

Located in rural Nebraska  southwest of Comstock, NE, Gallery: Art & Creativity Center is housed in a 100-plus church which served the once-thriving community of Wescott.  Acquired in 2005, the sanctuary has numerous exhibits and competitions throughout the year, beginning with the Open Art & Photography Competition held each March.  Each summer a themed show, beginning with Winds of Life, Horses, Cowgirls and Cowpokes, and All Creatures Great and  Small.  The gallery annually hosts the ANAC (Association of Nebraska Art Clubs) Travel Show, consisting of the winners of that year’s state conference competition.

The lower level is a teaching/learning area where Vissi d’Arte Club meets, where art lessons are given to art learners of all ages, and where occasionally folk gather for open house receptions.

Individuals and groups are encouraged to visit the gallery,  which is open by appointment or by chance.  However, the artist, Sue Oiler Dowse, lives next door south and gladly opens the gallery for those interested.  Contact (308)215-0076 or (308)628-4370), e-mail at playinpaint@nctc.net, or snail mail at 80797 Oak Grove Road, Comstock, NE 68828-2215.
