Wow, wow, wow! I got Honorable Mention for “A Ram I Am II,” my watercolor of a goat at a Long Pine I saw during an en pleine expedition last summer. Not only did it get what I consider a prestigious award, but it will be one of the paintings chosen to be critiqued by the judge at the ANAC banquet on Friday night. PTL!

on:Located in rural Nebraska southwest of Comstock, NE, Gallery: Art & Creativity Center is housed in a 100-plus church which served the once-thriving community of Wescott. Acquired in 2005, the sanctuary has numerous exhibits and competitions throughout the year, beginning with the Open Art & Photography Competition held each March. Each summer a themed show, beginning with Winds of Life, Horses, Cowgirls and Cowpokes, and All Creatures Great and Small. The gallery annually hosts the ANAC (Association of Nebraska Art Clubs) Travel Show, consisting of the winners of that year’s state conference competition.
The lower level is a teaching/learning area where Vissi d’Arte Club meets, where art lessons are given to art learners of all ages, and where occasionally folk gather for open house receptions.
Individuals and groups are encouraged to visit the gallery, which is open by appointment or by chance. However, the artist, Sue Oiler Dowse, lives next door south and gladly opens the gallery for those interested.
